Stamp Out Normal

An important principle I've learned is "Success is NOT logical".

Logical is following the majority. Logical seems normal. We're encouraged to conform to societal norms by friends, media and advertisers. Yet I meet very few individuals, families or businesses that describe themselves as extremely successful.

One of my goals this year has been to Stamp Out Normal. Instead of normal, I want success for myself, my family plus all the people and businesses I meet. I know you do too or you would not be reading this blog.

To be successful, we must be unique, not normal. Here is my partial list of Normal versus Novel activities:

Normal versus Novel

1. Say "No problem" ......... Say "My pleasure"
2. Create a To-Do list ....... Create a Stop-Doing list
3. Be a cog in the wheel ....... Be the linchpin of the wheel
4. Make work fun ....... Make work rewarding
5. 35-page business plan ........ 1-page business plan
6. Manage costs ........ Manage the activities that consume the costs
7. Get a loan to start a business ........ Make a sale to start a biz
8. Authoritative leadership ........ Servant leadership
9. Bad debt (car) ........ Good debt (rental house)
10. Job hunt ........ Boss hunt
